Exams can be important
Posted by Aswin.K.V at 2:51 AMHe said that Exams cannot alone evaluate one’s IQ and one’s intelligence.
It is valid.
But I should say that Exams reflect winner’s hardwork and sincerity.
The reply I must give for his view-“Exams are of no use(which is invalid) “ is that exams,as I said above, exams show how one can improve,what one is capable of and what one’s intelligence(which cannot be measured by human intelligence) is upto some extend.
He also said that people now a days are only looking upon toppers and ignoring improvements .Actually they are not ignoring improvers.They only try to appreciate their most successful winners.
He said that byhearting is not a good method.
I am a person who does not like to byheart each and every word given in the syllabus.
It is valid.
What we study must be for ever.It should just not be used to womit in the exam papers.

Posted by Aswin.K.V at 9:38 PMNullipara is a medical term.It refers to a woman who ha snever borne a child.But laity do not use it while having their usual talk.But when they use it most people do not understand what they are saying.If someone wants to show his knowledge in English,he should say that she is a poor woman as she is yet not able to borne a child.That she is a Nullipara.
Similarly If you want to talk about a woman who can’t keep her fingers away from nice handbags and cute umbrellas and all,you need not have to say that she is a kleptomaniac.You can say that she has a strong urge to steel nice things.
Actually there is no need to use any of these medical terms.
I f you want to get a route canal done you go to a dentist.You don’t have to say that you are going to an endodontist.
If u have an irregular heartbeat,that’s what u have.There is no compulsion to use it asa cardiac arrhythma.

Science and modern technologies develop a wide vocabulary of technical terms for the sake of precision ad accuracy.Ordinary language is fuzzy ansd frayed for scientific purposes. But the technical words of sciences are in place only in their respective sciences ,not outside their domain.Since ordinary language is too flexible it is good to use scientific language only in a scientific discussion.
Often scientific and technical terms do enter the ordinary language .These terms are mainly from mathematics and economics.
For example :-Producton is rising in arithmetic progression;prices are rising in geometric progression.The above example simply means prices are risig much faster than the production.
All the above examples reveal that mixing up of technical terms in ordinary language is really frustrating.Language is a medium for communication.It is not a medium to show one’s knowledge in that language.He can show his knowledge in that language in such a way that the other people can understand what he is saying eventhough it is a fact thatknowledge can only be expressed through language.
I cannot compell anyone not to use technical terms while speaking.But I request them to avoid its usage while dealing with ordinary people.As a layman,I am not sure of understanding all technical terms.So simplicity is good in a society,but complexity can be applied only for a complex discussion.
So,sometimes voting for simplicity is better in the above case.

Is having a wide range of festives,languages and religions and culture in a country blessing?????????????
Posted by Aswin.K.V at 12:40 AMI can justify my answer through the following example:
In U.S.A,its citizens mostly speak English.So even an ordinary citizen can travel and live through the whole country with that same language.Moreover,a funny thing is that they only have to study one medium language.But in a country where there are a lot of languages,it is very difficult to unite the country and for an ordinary man it is very difficult to express his views.
In a territory where there is a lot of religions ,there exists religious inequalities.But in a territory having minimum religions ,the religious inequalities can be very less.
So there is a numerous differences between the answers "yes" and "no" for the above question.

Google Summer of Code(GSoC)
Posted by Aswin.K.V at 9:44 PMThe Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is an annual program, first held from May to August 2005.in which Google awards stipends to hundreds of students who successfully complete a requested free software / open-source coding project during the summer. The program is open to students aged 18 or over - the closely related Google Highly Open Participation Contest is intended for students under the age of 18.
The event draws its name from the 1967 Summer of Love (of the Sixties counterculture), and the idea for the SoC came directly from Google's founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page. The program manager is Leslie Hawthorn who has been involved in the project since 2006 and managed it since 2007
Some Famous Mathematical Formulaes
Posted by Aswin.K.V at 6:54 PM1)Area and Diagonals of a Cyclic Quadrilaterals
The Indians Brahmagupta and Mahavira gave the following formulae for the area and diagonal of a quadrilateral.
Area=Root of (s-a)(s-b)(s-c)(s-d) where a,b,c, and d are the sides of the quadrilateral and s is the semiperimeter; and diagonals are R of (ab+cd)(ac+bd)/(ad+bc) and Root of (ac+bd)(ad+bc)/(ab+cd)
The formulae are correct only for the cyclic quadrilaterals.
2)Sin(A+B)=sin A cos B+ cos A sin B
3)Aryabhatta in his Aryabhatiya discusses the method of solving (in integers)equations of the type:
N=ax+c=by=d or ax-by=k
4)The following is a general formula given by Mahavira:
N=[n(n-1)(n-2)...................
(n-r+1)]/1.2.3...........r
This occurs in verse 218 of his Ganitha Sara Sangraha
5)The following formula can be used to find out the sum of the first n consequtive counting numbers.
Sum=n(n+1)/2
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and actionInto that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

http://www.ldf.org.in/
http://www.udf.org.in/

etc.
on the other hand individual candidates have started their own websites and blogs to express their ideology and notions.UDF candidate in Trivandrum has given his vision in http://www.shashitharoor.in/ .Along with it he give his people a facility to contact him through SMS.Not to be left behind,LDF has also launched many web portals to display the views of their candidates.
http://www.malayalamscraps.com/ provides users with a rare opportunity to be a part of the election camapaign but it provides net-commanding codes so that when it is pasted in one's Email text space and the reciever can see the poster or slogan in his message.
Many social networking sites like Orkut,Blog hosts like Blogger.com,wordpress.com provides a base for election campaigns.

An Hour Of Darkness
Posted by Aswin.K.V at 7:58 PMMillions of people,today will switch off their home or office lights for an hour-March 28-at 8:30 pm,"sending a global message to fight off the adverse clmatic conditions.
The campaign is in its third year and claiming phenominal growth in partcipation from 2.2million in 2007 to 50 million last year and more than a billion this weak.But where is the proof of any tagible change in the consumer mindset???????????
The annual increase in the temperature and power consumption seems touching the sky.I,Sydney ,where the movement firstly kicked off in 2007,recorded as 16.56% power consumption growth between 2006 and 2007.
In comparison,Our sweet developing city,where population is high,where Earth Hour is unknown to have existed recorded much less annual growth.
Thus it will be very interesting to know whether today's Earth Hour Campaign may bring some "change" in power consumption,but the the word "change"'s meaning may be,sometimes,rising up.............
